About

We are a small family-owned business, a venture which is the next step for us in a life of loving good books. Before launching this website, Gregory worked for 7 years as customer service manager in a Christian bookstore, where he had the privilege of guiding people to biblically sound books, and warning them about books with potentially misleading content.

His job there was God’s provision for our family as we started our own lives over again after 20 mis-spent years as members of a false religious cult. We praise and thank God the Father that through His Spirit He opened our eyes and hearts to the great salvation so freely offered to all in His Son Jesus Christ. By His grace, we are trusting in Christ alone and in His finished, substitutionary work on the cross of Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins and the assurance of eternal life in heaven. That’s a longer story that we will be glad to share with you some other time.

Together with three of our four children, we live in a small town in Maryland, where Gregory tutors high-school and college students in math and English, as well as teaching theology & New Testament Greek, and where Kathy teaches piano and voice. We Novalises all frequently have our noses buried in books.

God used good Christian books, and most especially the Book of books, in a wonderful way to change our lives for the better. That is why we consider getting books with sound, biblical teaching out to others to be our privilege and delight. But we do not sell only books with which we agree. After all, even when you know what you believe, it is often helpful to read what you do not agree with, because it equips you to better understand and communicate with others, and may deepen your own understanding of the truth as well. However, when we are aware that a certain book deviates in a serious way from the teaching of the Scriptures, and could easily confuse, mislead, or deceive an unwary reader, we will try in our description of it to alert you.

Sad to say, many of the best books (Christian or otherwise) are presently out of print or hard to find. It is a joy for us to act as “book recyclers,” discovering old Christian books, repairing them when possible, and helping them find new homes where they can bless a new generation of readers. If you have some Christian books to give away (donations are gratefully accepted!) or to sell at a modest cost, please make a list of their authors, titles, and a brief description of each book’s condition, and send it to us. We’ll let you know right away if we can use them.

Although our stock consists mostly of used books, there are some little-known gems among Christian books in print today. We will try to spotlight and review such books on our home page, and to carry a small supply of them for you to purchase through our web site.

All of us in the Novalis family want to glorify our Lord Jesus Christ–to show who He is and what He is like–by conducting our business with the utmost integrity and by giving you our wholehearted personal service. We are committed to providing accurate descriptions of our books and their conditions, packaging them with loving care, and shipping them in a timely fashion–as a testimony to our God and Savior. “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” (1 Corinthians 10:31, ESV).
